Chief Executive Officer

Oral health is like a garden, requiring planning, maintenance, & careto have a flourishing smile! ”

Yazmin Del toro Macias,

,

RDHAP MPH

Mobile Dental Hygienist

Yazmin founded The Flourish Dental Hygiene Practice to provide high-quality preventative dental services, education, and community outreach to the youth, focusing on ages 0-18, primarily in school-based and healthcare settings. As well as partnering with youth community-based and faith-based organizations for community events.

Yazmin worked alongside the Project Manager of the Oral Health Collaborative Consortium - UCLA School of Dentistry. She helped implement the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Oral Health Program's, Community Oral Health Improvement Plan (COHIP) objectives throughout Los Angeles County by conducting Kindergarten Oral Health Assessments (KOHA) and dental sealants to 24 elementary schools.

Yazmin is a bilingual dental hygienist, and has over 13 years of experience in the dental field, along with specialized training as an RDHAP (Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice). License #920. This allows her to work in on-site settings, other than a traditional dental office, and WITHOUT the supervision of a dentist. We use the latest portable dental equipment.

The goal of Flourish Dental Hygiene Practice is to expand oral health knowledge and increase preventative dental care access for vulnerable populations through no-cost preventative dental services, which include necessary referrals for follow-up care, and completing KOHA. We are here to reduce absenteeism from school, raise awareness amongst parents, prevent oral diseases, and encourage regular dental visits, all in the comfort of familiar settings.

Who We Serve

The Flourish Dental Hygiene Practice's goal is to eliminate oral health disparities in Southern California, serving the most vulnerable populations that are disproportionately affected. We travel through Los Angeles, Ventura, and Kern Counties, currently.

Flourish Dental Hygiene Practice brings equitable preventative services to children through our portable and tele-dental equipment. Our latest portable dental equipment visits schools, Head Start classrooms, WIC Clinics, homeless shelters, community centers, health fairs, faith-based organizations, and other other areas. We provide preventive dental care as well as education to all of the children, caregivers, families, and communities. Inter-professional collaborations and partnerships are crucial for the children’s physical and

mental health. We collaborate with dental offices and health centers.

Our mission is centered on our school-based preventative dental program, which helps decrease the incidence of tooth decay and dental emergencies by bringing the vastly needed preventive services to areas of low access to care.

Our Goal

We are here to reduce absenteeism from school, raise awareness amongst parents, prevent oral diseases, and encourage regular dental visits, all in the comfort of familiar settings. All done by fostering collaboration and inter-professional partnerships.

and it's preventable.

FAQ

is there a cost or a bill?

No.

There is NO COST to the schools or parents.

The child's dental insurance (if any) will be billed directly for the services provided.

What if i have a dentist?

Yay!

We are here to break down any barriers that comes to those who don’t have access. We provide convenience for preventative services by coming to your site. When we perform the quick dental screening if we notice anything suspicious we will refer you to your dental office, or we'd be happy to refer and find you a a dental home.

What if my child is scared?

Our goal is to make sure every child has a positive dental experience! We will not force any child to do something they do not want to participate in. Typically, once they see their friends participating, they happily want to be involved.

Every child that brings a consent form back, even if they can’t participate they will receive the toothbrush kit.

What about infection control?

We take everyone's health very seriously! We have policies and procedures to comply with the federal and state infection control guidelines with our portable equipment. We follow the current PPE guidelines recommended by the CDC. All items used on patients are disinfected, disposed of, or sterilized after each use. We also bring an air purifier.
